Donna Maria Social Service Centre

At Guwahati in North East India a small local Skills Training Centre was established in 2009.  Preference is given to school drop-out girls, domestic workers, single mothers and women in difficult circumstances.  Training in tailoring, embroidery, basket, flower and candle making is provided, with 20 young women in regular attendance.  Sister Maria encourages the participants and offers skills training.  The aim of the programme is to assist the participants to gain experience so that they may have employment opportunities and to encourage self reliance.  At present there are just over 20 in the programme.
