Longing to Be One

It was with delight and much joy, I joined the Formation Team at Balay Euphrasie-RNDM International Formation Centre in Davao, Philippines to welcome sixteen sisters who came to Davao to participate in the six-month congregational program of preparation for Perpetual Profession from June to December 2019. Because of visa issue, two sisters arrived a few day later. The sisters come from India North East, India South, Kenya, Myanmar, Philippines and Vietnam. This is the 14th program since the Centre was established.

“Longing to Be One is the theme chosen for this six months living together. In union with RNDMs across the globe, the sisters hope to make this deep desire of ONESS for MISSION a reality as the congregation journeys toward the 28th Congregation Chapter in 2020.

Welcome Davao19A welcoming ritual was well prepared by Sr. Anita Moolan, the Director of the centre and the team members. We experienced and cherished the richness of our cultural diversity. Balay Euphrasie was filled with enthusiasm, joy and youthful energy of the sisters as they met each other. The commencement of the of program was officially marked with a Eucharistic celebration, with the presence and loving support of the Parish priest Fr. Maximo Buhanding, some parishioners, neighbouring religious men and women and our support staff.

We wish you dear sisters, a mutually enriching experience during this six-month journey and beyond: the journey to stir afresh Euphrasie’s dream and daring in the world today; a journey of deepening your relationship with God and of your conviction of God’s call to participate in the Divine Mission. It is a special time to kindle anew your passion for mission, to respond to the cry of the poor including our poor Earth. May your experience of God be more personal and profound as you prepare yourselves to be more firm in your YES to God through your Perpetual Profession by the end of this year.

We accompany you with our love and prayer. May the flame of Euphrasie Barbier be alive and shin ever brightly in your missionary life so that wherever you are, there is JOY!
