Become an RNDM Missionary

In the Congregation of Our Lady of the Missions, we welcome young women who feel the call to be a Religious Missionary. There are four stages of initial formation through which these women make the journey.

  1. Pre-postulancy: During this time we welcome young women who have passion for mission beyond boundaries. She will have opportunities to reflect on the meaning of the Christian and religious life and acquire some understanding of the life and spirit of the Congregation. The duration will depend on the local realities and the readiness of the person to enter into the next stage. A minimum of secondary level education is required.
  2. Postulancy: Those who have consistently expressed their interest and desire to enter into our RNDM way of life are provided with a process that will help them to discover their deeper self, God and a greater understanding of their motivation in entering a religious missionary Congregation. This period may last from six months to two years.
  3. Novitiate: Religious life begins with the Novitiate. During this time the novice is initiated into the challenges of religious missionary vocation lived in Community and the practice of the three vows according to the rule and Constitutions of the Congregation. She will be helped and guided to grow in personal relationship with God through spiritual discernment, contemplation, silence and solitude.
  4. Temporary Profession: This is a further time for formation and probation in preparation for the act of Perpetual Profession. During this time the sister continues her spiritual, doctrinal, academic and apostolic formation learning progressively how to integrate in her life contemplation, community life and apostolic activity. Normally at the end of six years, each sister will have the opportunity to attend a six month international programme in Davao, Philippines in preparation for perpetual profession.

At any stage, a sister may be missioned to any part of our Congregation where there is a need. Formation is ongoing. From time to time sisters will be given opportunities to participate in renewal, both within the congregation or in courses offered which suit individual needs.
