Perpetual Vows in Bangladesh

28 December 2022 was a joyous and thanksgiving day for the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions (RNDM) of Bangladesh Province. On this day our beloved Sr. Bruno Bernadette Atiwara pronounced for her perpetual vows at Jalchatra Parish, Mymensingh Diocese. The Most Rev. Bishop Ponan Paul Kubi, CSC the bishop of Mymensigh Diocese officiated at the solemn Eucharist along with other Priests. Rev. Bishop Ponen, in his homily gave example of Pope Francis how he gives importance of the periphery missions, side-lined, disadvantaged, and drawback and marginalized people. Jalchatra is one of the peripheral churches and how the missionaries’ long time ago carried out their missions here and evangelized the people. The fruit of their hard work and self-sacrificing service is today’s Christians here. From this parish young men and women are dedicating themselves for the service of the Lord.

Rev. Bishop also mentioned that he is grateful to the RNDM sisters for the dedicated service in the Mymensingh Diocese with enthusiasm and great commitment. The choir by the parishioners and the sisters helped in greater devotion and added more meaning and life to the Eucharistic celebration. The hymns were sung both in Bengali and Garo language. Sister Purobi Pascalina Chiran, the Province Leader received sister Bruno’s vows. At the end of solemn Eucharistic celebration, Sr. Purobi thanked the Rev. Bishop Ponen, Parish Priest Fr. Michel, priests, religious sisters, brothers, parishioners, and especially thanked the parents of Sr. Bruno for offering their loving daughter to the service of the humanity, church through the RNDM Congregation.

For this solemn celebration, the family members of Bruno, priests, well-wishers and the sisters of Our Lady of the Missions gathered along in a spirit of joy to witness and share the joy of Sr. Bruno. After the Mass there was a cultural program arranged by Sr. Bruno’s family members and the parishioners to make the day more joyful. The fellowship meal was shared after the cultural progamme where everyone enjoyed the delicious dishes. The decoration of the church, the stage was splendid. Sr. Bruno’s face was shining with joy and in thanksgiving. We the RNDM have formed Sister Bruno well. The rest is for the sister to follow and serve Christ the Way, the Truth and the Life, in order to bear the abundant fruits of love, joy, zeal, solitude, peace and harmony. Congratulations to Bruno !
