Context

Ndondol is one of the poorer areas in and people live in semi-arid zones. People rely on agriculture and they depend on rains. The sisters have been working together with women’s groups in different villages over the past 40 years, fighting against malnutrition especially for children aged one month to three years old.

Other information

Location: Ndondol is a rural community in Senegal located in the center-west of the country.

Goals: Prevent malnutrition of babies and their mothers by teaching them how to prepare nutritious food.

Activities: To reach the goal of prevention from malnutrition, the sisters train the capable and reliable women from the group chosen by women themselves. The formation is given to them on how to prepare nutritious food, with the ingredients of local cereals. There is separate formation on how to keep a record of the baby’s weight each month. Once a month the sisters with health worker visit each group to supervise the work of the women.

Beneficiaries: 500 children and their mothers are the beneficiaries of this project.

Request: This project requires financial support to reach out to malnourished babies, provide them with nutritious food and train mothers to fight against malnutrition.
