On March 24th -26th , 2025, 30 vibrant young women from the Sacred Heart Colleges and Cathedral College, accompanied by 10 of their committed Principals and staff gathered at El Rancho, Waikanae. This is our annual RNDM Retreat, focusing on the Mission Charism that each one lives and leads in their respective Colleges. This group was a multi-cultural, dynamic group that gave me incredible Hope for Leadership of our young students.
The ability of this group to mix and mingle, share whatsapp or Instagram numbers was impressive. It demonstrated the efficiency of media and their desire to be connected. They came with eager attitudes ready to participate in all that was being offered.
Euphrasie Barbier, her characteristics and spirit captured these young women as they reflected how her dream continues in their lives and spirituality. Mary of the Visitation grounded us in our reflection on our way of relating, of possibly knowing the Divine in each person and through all of Creation. They discovered they can begin to create a better world cultivating kind and respectful encounters in their Colleges. Creative and colorful liturgies for the feast of the Visitation were prepared and fun activities that spark hope and joy for use throughout the rest of the year. Each year, each group gifts me with new insights into the lives of young people and their hopes and dreams. It gives great assurance that our young people long for something, believe in something and are willing to engage in the search for meaning, and for God.
