n what has now become an annual event, Principals, DRS’s and Student Leaders from five Colleges around the country gather at El Rancho, Waikanae. The commitment shown by each of these Colleges to attend this Leaders’ Retreat is to be commended and supported.
During this time, we reflect on Leadership through the lens of Euphrasie’s vision and in the context of our young people today. What this invites is an interpretation of the spirit and characteristics of Euphrasie Barbier through the lives and events of our young student leaders. They are invited to consider their own context of leadership – what challenges are they facing? What dilemmas or contradictions are they encountering? Where are their hopes and visions for their respective roles? We hope that in some way, the RNDM Charism can contribute to their resilience and commitment.
It never ceases to amaze me how easily this group gels together on the first night of the Retreat. Simple chants, hand games and stories all are the initial pillars of breaking down any barriers that separate. We pray for each one who attended this Retreat, that their experiences are still finding a place in their hearts and being shared with their school communities.
